Justin Lamoureux Update Hey what's up? I've been having an awesome spring. Whistler's got a huge snowpack and the slush riding was sweet this year. The multi sport days were (still are) in full effect. riding, to skating, to biking and climbing all in one day. love the long days. but surfing was calling so i rolled down to costa rica for a little while right before the surf team was there. was basically cruising around playa negra and avellanas with some buddies that live there. got some sick surf. generally a couple feet overhead to double overhead. lots of barrels to be ridden and some good poundings into the reefs was the price for them.
Flying in to tamarindo, i got a good bird's eye view of a lot of the offshore reefs.
This break was our daily spot. 8 foot, barreling a frame, offshore winds and way offshore. We only saw people out with us once, 3 ticos that knew about it. We surfed over a 3-4 foot shark at this break. I saw him right underneath me while i was rolling down the line checking out the reef. Definately kinda spooky.
Speaking of critters, you gotta watch out for scorpions in the northern part of costa. shake out your shorts and shirts before you put them on..
By my friends house there's a little tico soda that was putting on a fiesta one night. Pretty dope being the only gringos partying with the ticos.
I'm not sure if toyota had pipas in mind when they made those drink holders. Finish surfing, climb a tree, grab some pipas and enjoy. In case you ever want to know how to open one with out a knife, smash it on a tree until it cracks then drink up. I got back from Costa right before summer camp started. Now i'm coaching and riding at glacier snowboard camp. There is still tons of snow and everything on the glacier looks sick. I'll be up there until the end of July, then it's down to NZ in aug. for some more shredding. Later, Justin
